Questions about ev charger installation
Do I need a panel upgrade for a Level 2 charger in Utah?
Not always. A 200 amp panel with room to spare usually takes a 48 amp charger without trouble. Older Utah homes on 100 amp service often can, too, once we run the load calculation and set the charger to a sensible amperage. We check before quoting, not after.
How long does the install take?
Most Utah garage installs are done in three to five hours. Longer runs to a detached garage, an outdoor pedestal, or an install that needs a panel upgrade first will stretch into a second visit, and we tell you which one you are looking at before you commit.
Can you install a charger I already bought?
Yes. Bring your own unit and we will mount, wire and commission it. If you have not bought yet, tell us the car and the daily miles when you call (888) 633-7804 and we will point you at the right amperage so you are not paying for capacity you will never use.
Is a plug better than hardwiring?
A 14-50 outlet lets you unplug and take the unit with you when you move. Hardwiring is required for units above 40 amps and gives a cleaner, weather-tight outdoor install. Both are common in Utah; the right one depends on your charger and where it hangs.
